ANGUILLA TO BE REPRESENTED AT SAMOA AND MANCHESTER GAMES

On Wednesday August 26th, teams representing Anguilla at the Commonwealth Youth Games Samoa 2015 and Sainsbury School Games Manchester 2015 were present at the Governor’s Office for a short press briefing in Executive Chambers.

 

The team representing Anguilla in Samoa is comprises of T’arah Niles, Janique Fleming, Antoine Laurent, Kohn Richardson and Xander Owen-Vasilis. They will be accompanied by Heather Richardson who is the Team Manager/Official and Coach from the Anguilla Athletics Association and Marvin Hazell who is an Official and Coach for the Anguilla Tennis Association. On the Athletics side, Anguilla will be represented in the 100m & long jump by T’arah as well as the 200m & 400m by Janique Fleming. Representation in Lawn Tennis will be by Antoine and Kohn in mens Doubles and Xander Owen-Vasilis in mens singles.

Representing Anguilla at the Sainsbury School Games in Manchester will be T-kailah Richardson accompanied by Althea Hodge General Secretary of the Anguilla Commonwealth Games Association.
Mr. Kenn Banks President of the Anguilla Commonwealth Association discussed funding for the games in Samoa which is provided by the Commonwealth Games Federation. In 2008 the Federation decided that every nation should be able to send Athletes for the games. The maximum amount of persons covered by the Federation is six which includes two officials. Mr. Banks will also be off to New Zealand for the Commonwealth Games Federation General Assembly on Saturday.

Governor Christina Scott expressed her best wishes to both teams.
